H2S Alive 18.1 Edition

Course #: H2S
Cost: 160.00 Plus GST
Program Length: 8 Hours
Certification Duration: 3 Years
Certified By: Energy Safety Canada

Course Description

During the early years of Oil & Gas exploration in Western Canada, many workers were injured or killed because of exposure to Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) gas.  The Petroleum Industry recognized a need for specialized training to ensure workers have the knowledge and ability to protect themselves against the harmful and sometimes fatal effects of H2S exposure.

In 1988 P.I.T.S released the first H2S Alive training course for the Oil and Gas industry.  25 years later on July 1, 2013 Enform (formally known as PITS) released the 7th Edition of the H2S Alive training course and manual.

This is a one-day course that approaches H2S training from a new “proactive” perspective verses the old “reactive” training.

The Following topics are discussed in eight hours:

  • Properties, Health Hazards and Locations of H2S
  • Hazard Assessment and Control
  • Respiratory Protective Equipment
  • Detection of H2S
  • Initial Response Strategy

Students will be required to write an exam at the end of the day and obtain a mark of 70% or better to receive certification.
